As I think about my generation and what we have lived through, and what we could potentially see...it truly is mind blowing. Just as a run down of the events I specifically remember for one reason or another...
- Generation Y is Born
- 1989: Berlin Wall Falls
- 1995: Oklahoma City Bombing Occurs
- I was getting ready to move to OK as an elementary student and was FREAKING out!
- 1997: Dolly was cloned
- Being the nerd I was this fascinated me
- 1998: President Clinton "Did not have sexual relations with that woman"
- I didn't really understand what was the big deal if President Clinton had an intern or not...oops for totally missing the ENTIRE premise of what was going on at the time...I may have been a bit naive.
- 1999: Columbine Masacre
- Happened right before my birthday as I'm entering high school, scared the crap out of me again.
- 1999-2000: Y2K
- HOLY MOLY EVERYONE HUNKER DOWN AND BE PREPARED!
- 2001: iPod is introduced
- Effectively changing how the world listens to music.
- 2001: 9/11/2001 Terrorist attacks
- I was ironically in US History. I'll never forget that day
- 2004: Facebook Launched
- Beginning to the end of true communication with another human being
- 2005: Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans
- Self explanatory
- 2006: Pluto isn't a planet after all, and Sadam Hussein executed.
- 2007: Virginia Tech Shooting & Economic Failure
- Just in time for me to graduate school
- 2008: First Black President elected for the USA
- 2010: Earthquake rocks Haiti
- 2011: Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan decimates ladscape and population.
- 2012: Hurricane Sandy hits North East, CT Shooting kills 20 1st graders and 6 staff members
- Current: End of days in T-3 days.
There is just so much MY generation has had to deal with, I can only imagine as things move faster what we and the next generations will have to deal with in the years to come ... Gulf Stream possibly ending (Since it's already slowed a great deal), more earthquakes as the climate changes continue...
Who knows, I'm done thinking for now, I'll post again soon if we survive the Mayan's predictions...
