Wow, it's hard to believe little Nemo and I are already almost a quarter of the way through this pregnancy! I still don't really "feel" pregnant except for the morning sickness. I'm going to copy something from my cousin's blog that I will keep consistant throughout the pregnancy. Hope everyone enjoys the updates, and I will start taking belly pictures at 10 weeks. :) Then I only torment you with 30 weeks of them instead of 40 weeks!
Nemo's now the size of a Green Olive!
Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a green olive— and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. He/She is starting to look more and more human. His/her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. His/her yes are fully formed, but his/her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. He/she as tiny earlobes, and his/her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain. (taken from the bump.com and babycenter.com)How Far Along: 9 weeks and a day
Total Weight Gain: I have actually lost 2 lbs from my starting weight.
Maternity Clothes: None yet.
Best Moment this week: Not having violent morning sickness. Hopefully it'll totally go away...I know...DREAMING! :)
Gender: No clue. Anyone who has guessed has guessed a boy thus far. I've also caught myself saying "he" instead of "she" but see below!
Movement: None yet, and won't be any for a while I'd imagine.
Food Craving: None yet really. I've stayed away from a lot of my "typical" diet - which Matt's THRILLED about...so most of my diet is very bland and boring. My biggest thing is trying to stay away from salt as much as possible for obvious reasons.
Sleep: Trouble this week, but that has nothing to do with little Nemo, and everything to do with Matt being out of town for work. I never sleep well when he's out of town.
What I am looking forward to: Starting to work on the house. We have to prepare for there to be 3 of us humans in that house of ours! :)
Belly Button: Definitely in.
Symptoms: Still feeling pretty good – besides the nausea. I haven't been like so many women I hear about though and vomiting every time they're turning around. SO I guess no big complaints here :)
Girl or Boy!?
- Baby’s heart rate: If the HR is >140, then it’s a girl; if it’s <140; it’s a boy
- Haven't had this measured yet 12W exam we'll hear the heartbeat for the first time!
- Acne: If your skin gets worse during the pregnancy, it’s a girl; if it stays the same or gets better, it’s a boy
- Boy (Holding strong so far!)
- Maternal Grandmother: If the maternal grandmother has gray hair it’s a boy; if she doesn’t (whether natural or dyed) it’s a girl
- GIRL
- Sum of the mother’s age + the month conceived: Odd = girl; even = boy
- GIRL
- Hair on legs: If the hair on your legs grows faster it’s a boy; if it stays the same or stops it’s a girl
- Haven't noticed this so far...but I'll watch from now on!
- Carrying: If you’re carrying low and all in front it’s a boy; high and wide = girl
- This one is a little hard to tell so far, but I’ve been told it looks like I’m carrying low, which = BOY
- Feet: If they are colder than usual it’s a boy; normal or warmer it’s a girl
- GIRL (I think I've also been more cognative to wear slippers and such. Not really a good person to do this one though as my feet are usually ice...I'll have to ask Matt to evaluate this for me.) :)
- Morning Sickness: If you had it = girl, if you didn’t = boy
- GIRL
SO lots of changes just beginning. I have the feeling a lot of the answers above will stay the same for a while, but that with time every single expectation will have changed.
